The Vancouver Island North Women's Resource Society
The Vancouver Island North Women’s Resource Society is an incorporated BC Non-Profit society and a Registered Canadian Charity. We have operated the Campbell River Women’s Centre, as well as other community social service programs since 1983. We are supported by several small grants, as well as a small staff and more than 30 volunteers
· The Women’s Centre provides: Free walk-in crisis and supportive counseling, referral to services for women experiencing violence or abuse, wellness education, coffee, computer and internet access
· Our Poverty Relief Program distributes personal care and hygiene supplies as well as gently used clothing and bedding to women on low income.
· The Senior Peer Counselling Program is for men and women, giving seniors focused emotional support from other trained senior volunteers.
· The Advocacy Services Centre, provides legal advocacy on income assistance, tenancy, and related legal issues for persons on low income
· The Homelessness Outreach Program provides direct outreach and resources to homeless or at-risk-of homelessness persons in our community
· Walking With Our Sisters is a three year project to address gender based violence by creating sustainable community awareness and by providing direct service through focused quality counseling and lifeskills education.
